non-profit organization

Founded in 2007, The Oral Cancer Awareness Foundation is an IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to educating both the public and the professional health community about the alarming need for increased early detection of this horrible disease in order to provide improved outcomes of those diagnosed. 

 
Through the use of speaking engagements in both public and professional areas, coupled with traditional and emerging media vehicles, we aim to educate regarding the use and application of various early detection devices that are expected to decrease the morbidity and mortality rates of those diagnosed.  
 
We know we can make a difference if we simply catch the disease earlier, thereby drastically increasing the 5-year survival rate. We are asking that you please play a role in this fight by supporting The OrCA Foundation. Every dollar raised brings us closer to a community, and a world, without oral cancer.
 
Dr. Larry Hamburg, after being diagnosed and treated for Stage IV Oral Cancer, decided to be an advocate for those facing oral cancer, and in March 2007, established the Oral Cancer Awareness Foundation. Dr. Hamburg’s Story as seen in Newsweek.

The Dr. Marvin Hamburg Oral Cancer Education Fund

A professor at NYU College of Dentistry, and recognized as a pioneer in the field of cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Marvin Hamburg was also a staunch advocate for oral cancer prevention and detection. In honor of Dr. Marvin Hamburg’s love of children, education, and dentistry this fund was created to continue his legacy.

 
In partnership with the Oral Cancer Awareness Foundation, the Dr. Marvin Hamburg Oral Cancer Education Fund will launch a national high school educational platform focused on causes, prevention and promoting awareness of Oral Cancer.
 
To ensure the future of prevention and awareness of Oral Cancer, The Dr. Marvin Hamburg Oral Cancer Education Fund Scholarship has been established, to provide scholarship support to a student of his alma mater NYU College Of Dentistry.
